Overview

This article describes the options available in the 'Description' tab of the job wizard.  If you have been granted the permission 'Can view and edit description tab', this tab will be available.  Any instructions which appear at the top of this tab may have been tailored for your organization.  This tab captures the information to display in job advertisements on your careers website.

This article includes:

Advert text

Use this section to define the appropriate advert text for candidates.  You can type the text, or paste text from an existing document.  You don’t need to include the job title in your advert text as it will be included automatically from the 'Title & key details' tab.  Use the toolbar to format your advert text as required.

By default, the option 'Internal advert is same as external' is selected.  This means that the same advert text is displayed to both external and internal candidates.  If you would like to have different advert content for your internal candidates, deselect this box and a new section will appear for the advert text for internal candidates.  If your external advert text has already been saved, the content from the external advert text will default into this section for you to edit/replace.

TIPS:

  • Use the spelling/grammar-checking features in your browser to check your content.
  • The toolbar menu/buttons you may not be familiar with are:
    • Insert/edit link (same as choosing Insert\insert link menu): If you need to insert a link into your advertisement text, this feature allows you to specify the URL and text to display.
    • Remove link: This button removes the link you have selected.
    • Source code:  If required, this button displays the html formatting that has been applied to the description text.

External position description

You can also upload a position description file that will be available from the job advertisement on your careers site for external candidates to open/download and review.  Use the onscreen 'Tip!' to see what file formats have been allowed by your site configuration.

Internal position description

You can also upload a position description file that will be available from the job advertisement on your careers site for internal candidates to open/download and review.  Use the onscreen 'Tip!' to see what file formats have been allowed by your site configuration.

Add media (advanced)

If you have been granted the permission 'Can view and edit advanced media', this section of the description tab will be visible, and collapsed by default. Click the '+ show content' link to expand this section:

You can use this section to add other media to your job advertisement – for example; video, audio, google maps, flash etc.  You need to add this media by providing an embedded html tag which you will need to obtain from your media supplier, IT team or similar.

TIP:  If the content you want to embed is on an external website, then the embedded html is often available directly from the site.   For example, on youtube.com, you can click the 'Share' button, then choose the 'Embed' option and select the content provided.
