Overview

This article describes the changes and/or features available when using version 8451 of SnapHire.  These changes are available for general release from the 2nd February 2017.  This article should be reviewed in addition to Version 8450 Release Information, and includes the following:

Changes to time-out period when using SnapHire

In this version we have made some further changes to the time-out process for your SnapHire session (following on from the changes we made in v8450):

  1. The default time-out is one hour, and this time is automatically extended if your session remains active.
  2. Your session is considered active as long as the browser tab remains open on SnapHire.
Please note:
  • If the tab is closed, your session will expire at the end of the time-out setting (e.g. you were using SnapHire in one tab of a browser until 2pm, when you closed the tab and continued working in another tab of the browser.  Your SnapHire session would time-out at 3pm - before this time you could navigate back to the site and not yet be timed out).
  • If the browser is closed or the computer turned off, your session will end immediately.

Changes to "Date" and "Date and time" formats for job seekers

With this version we have added two new site settings which control the format of "Date" and "Date and time" fields when presented to job seekers in some areas of the careers site (where some of these dates previously defaulted to US date formats - e.g. Jan 30, 2017).  These new settings allow your organisation to use the date format most appropriate to the majority of your job seekers.

The settings are applicable when the job seeker is visiting the careers site and:

  1. Viewing the DATE a job advertisement was posted to the careers site (in a list of jobs, or in the details of a job).
  2. Viewing the DATE & TIME a job advertisement is closing for applications.
  3. Viewing the DATE or DATE & TIME they have previously provided in answer to a date or date/time Registration question (via the My details section of the careers site).
  4. Viewing the DATE they submitted an application (via the jobs tab of the My details section of the careers site).
Upon upgrade to v8451 your site will use our default formats (dd MMM yyyy/ dd MMM yyyy HH:mm) unless otherwise specified.  Learn more ...

Approval features - more options for "Final Approval"

Prior to v8451, if your organization utilised the Job Approval or Hiring Approval feature, and used a DEFAULT approval chain, then the grant final approval option was only available to the final approver in the chain (the radio button was greyed out to earlier approvers).  When viewing the approval widget, approved is indicated with one green check, final approval with two:

In this version we have made a change to the approval processes so that, if required by your organization, the final approval option can be made available to all approvers in the chain.   For example:

  • Prior to this version, a default approval goes first to John, then to Aroha and finally to Sally.  Sally is the "final approver" and only she would have the grant final approval option - this ensures Sally always reviews/approves all requests for which she is part of the chain.
  • From this version, if configured, the chain would be the same, however both John and Aroha would now have the option to "Finally approve" the request if they are confident that the requests falls within their approval boundaries and do not require it to continue along the chain.

Please contact Support if you would like to discuss how this change might be utilized by your organization.

Haineslink URL correction

Haines recently had a system update which changed the URL which is used when advertising via Hainelink (the integration which allows advertising posting directly from SnapHire).  At the time this issue occurred we created a fix to add the new URL to each site as required.  With this version, the fix becomes permanent and is applied to all sites.

New job seeker actions (omission from version 8450 release notes)

This information was omitted from the release notes for version 8450 in error, and has been included in this article for your information.  When you were upgraded to version 8450 of SnapHire, two new job seeker actions will automatically be added to your site.  These two actions will be required in the future to allow the registration of new job seekers should your organization choose to utilize the Talent App Store and install any apps which allow job seeker registrations via a third party identity (idp) provider - e.g. Facebook, Google etc.

SYSTEM Creation by external job seeker - idp

This action is raised automatically by SnapHire when an external job seeker signs in with the careers site via an identity provider (idp) using third party single-sign-on (SSO) authorization.

SYSTEM Creation by internal job seeker - idp

This action is raised automatically by SnapHire when an internal job seeker signs in with the careers site via an identity provider (idp) using third party single-sign-on (SSO) authorization.

Other changes

  1. Currency fields when copy jobs / applying templates - We've fixed an issue which was experienced when you copied an existing job, created a job from a template or applied a template to an existing job, where the original job or template included a currency field which contained a value.  When the new job was created, the currency field would have no value.  This has now been fixed and the currency value from the existing job (copy) or template will be applied to the new job (if the currency field is configured for your site to be included in copy / template application).

  2. Emails to "email address" recipients - We've fixed a recent issue which was experienced when raising actions which send an email to a specific email address (i.e. not to a job seeker, or to a user but to an email address configured into an action).  These actions now function as expected.
  3. Resolution to issue for approval feature working with SEEMail - SEEMail is a system which secures email traffic over the internet between participating New Zealand government agencies. Organizations utilizing SnapHire Job Approval or Hiring Approval features were experiencing issues with the approval emails if they also used SEEMail.  This issue has now been resolved.

  4. Processing agency users working on pipeline jobs - We've fixed an issue that was experienced by processing Agency users who were associated with Pipeline jobs where they couldn't access the Jobs navigation tab.

  5. Correction of spelling error in Seek job board posting form - We've fixed a small spelling error that was visible to Recruiter users in the video position field when enabling YouTube video in their job board posting when posting to Seek.  Please note that this change is made in one central Seek job posting location which is accessed by all sites when posting to Seek - this means that the change came into effect for all sites when version 8451 was released (that is, even if you are not yet upgraded to v8451 you will see this fix now).

  6. Correction of issue when HTML used in Registration question text - We've fixed an issue with the way html added to the "Question text" section of a registration question was rendering.  The html was rendering correctly when job seekers were applying for a job (e.g. the job seeker sees "This is bold text") , but not when they were updating their details later in the My Details seciton of the careers site (e.g. the job seeker sees "This is <b>bold</b> text").  This has now been fixed.

  7. CEB assessment score display - We've fixed an issue where the assessment scores from some CEB assessments weren't displaying in SnapHire.   This was a parsing issue that prevented the display of the assessment score for some clients using a new assessment type by CEB which contained an additional format.
