Core Concepts
SnapHire Analytics includes a set of building blocks that make up the analytics experience:
Questions — Saved queries paired with a visualization
Dashboards — Collections of related questions arranged in a layout
Documents — Narrative-style reports combining text and charts
Collections — Folder-like structures for organising content and managing access
Models — Custom or pre-built questions that act as tables within SnapHire Analytics. Unlike normal questions, models can be used just like a source table in a question
Subscriptions— Scheduled emails set on a dashboard
Alerts— Scheduled emails set to either trigger on an event of a question or used to email a question on a schedule
Questions
A Question is a saved query plus its chosen visualization. A question is a query that contains the blueprint to retrieving your data. It is the starting point to accessing the raw data. The word question and card get used interchangeably. Once a question is added to a dashboard it is referred to as a card. You can build and save questions straight in a dashboard or in a collection. You can switch between a table and a chart at any time.
Questions can:
Trigger alerts when data meets certain conditions using alerts
Be exported to CSV, XLSX, JSON, or PNG
Be reused in dashboards, documents, or other questions
The question builder lets you create questions. You can:
Select tables and fields
Filter and sort data
Group and summarise results
Join tables
Add custom expressions
Build interactive charts
Dashboards
Dashboards let you bring multiple questions together into a single view.
With dashboards, you can:
Arrange charts and tables in a meaningful layout
Add filters that update multiple cards at once
Include text blocks for context
Make charts interactive
Schedule dashboard delivery via email using subscriptions
Documents
Documents are narrative-style reports that combine charts with written commentary. They’re ideal for:
Monthly recruitment summaries
Executive reporting
Explaining trends and insights
Collections
Collections act like folders within SnapHire Analytics. They allow you to:
Organise questions, dashboards and documents
Group content by team or topic
Nest collections inside one another
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are simply scheduled emails set on a dashboard. It can be scheduled monthly, weekly, daily etc. You can set the filters available on your dashboard in your subscription to limit the data you send. You can also set up multiple subscriptions on the same dashboard.
Alerts
The real purpose of alerts is to send an email when a question contains data or to send out an alert when a certain data event occurs. Alerts can also be used as a schedule/subscription if a question always has data, but we recommend always adding your questions to dashboards and rather setting up subscriptions as this is easier to keep track of.
