Overview

This article provides information about the 'Your resumé' field which appears in the 'Resumé' section of the Total Apply Registration form and/or Total Apply application form.  This article includes:

'Your resumé' field

When using this field the candidate can:

  • see a prompt advising them the allowed file types (as provided to Total Apply by the app/system it is linked to).  For example, 'Allowed file types: .rtf, .pdf, .docx'.
  • see the default text 'Please attach your resumé.'.
  • click on the 'Attach resumé' to browse and find their file to upload.
  • click on the 'Dropbox upload' button to sign into Dropbox and find their file to upload, if they are using a desktop or tablet (this button is not presented to the candidate if they are completing the form using a 'mobile' device).
  • use the 'Open' link to check the file (visible when a file is attached).
  • use the 'Delete' link to remove the file (visible when a file is attached).

Population of information

If the candidate:

  • Is new and creating a profile in the app/system Total Apply is linked to, this field may be pre-populated with information from the identity app they have used to sign in with.
  • Has an existing profile in the app/system Total Apply is linked to, if available, this field will pre-populated with their stored information.

Mandatory setting

When using Total Apply, whether or not the resumé field is mandatory is determined by the information Total Apply receives from the app/system Total Apply is linked to in your tenant.  If this field is set to mandatory but the candidate does not answer it, the validation prompt 'Please upload your resumé' is displayed.

Text resumés

When using Total Apply, whether or not the resumé field can be answered by typing a text resumé into the form is determined by the information Total Apply receives from the app/system Total Apply is linked to in your tenant.  If allowed, the 'Type my resumé' option becomes available.

Allowed resume files

Total Apply will enforce which file types are allowed to be uploaded as the resumé (it receives this information from the system/app it is linked to).  If the candidate attempts to upload a file type which is not allowed for the field, the prompt 'The file you have uploaded is not a valid file type. Please upload one of the following:' appears along with the allowed file type information.

TIPS:

  • If the candidate clicks on the answer area of the question (instead of the Attach button), the attach function will launch.
  • The maximum resume file size which can be uploaded via Total Apply is 9.54Mb (unless a different size limit has been provided to Total Apply by the app/system it is linked to).  If the candidate attempts to upload a file larger than 9.54Mb, the prompt 'File size must not exceed 9.54Mb. Please choose another file to upload.' appears.
