Overview

'Top Jobs' and 'Featured Jobs' are a way of promoting selected jobs on your organisation's careers website.  Any jobs already visible on your careers site can be additionally promoted to this section of the careers site at any time.

It is important to note that when used, this feature is typically heavily customised by each organisation to suit the layout and branding of their particular careers site.  If your organisation utilises top jobs and/or featured jobs they may have been renamed (e.g. to Hot jobs, Latest Opportunities etc.) or had their formatting altered from what is described in this article.  In addition, the menu paths described to work with top/featured jobs may have been customised.  Please familiarise yourself with your careers site layout and usage of top jobs and featured jobs before working through this section.

This article includes:

Top jobs

'Top Jobs' generally appear directly below the featured jobs, typically with a small snippet of the beginning of the job advertisement text and other key information.

Many organisations choose to customise the top jobs list to be 'Latest jobs' (or similar) and have the promotion to this list happen automatically every time a job is made open and visible on the careers site.  This site configuration means that users never need to remember to promote their jobs to top jobs, and every new job gets an opportunity to receive the extra promotion on your careers site.  When this configuration is used, the number of top jobs listings displayed typically has a defined limit (e.g. show 5 of the latest top jobs).

If/when you want to promote a job as a top job:

  1. Select the job – either from the Job details view or by selecting ☑ in the Job list view.
  2. Choose JOB \ Edit \ Description tab:  Check your job advert text.  If the text has bullet points at the beginning these will run together in the snippets displayed in the top job promotion.  Therefore you may like to reword your description text before promoting it as a top job.  Click SAVE AND FINISH.
  3. Choose \ JOB \ Change status \ Publish as "Top job".
  4. Click OK.
  5. Assuming your job is visible on the careers site (that is, it is Open and visible), it will now appear as the first job in the 'Top jobs' section.  Your job will stay at the top of the list until another job is also promoted as a 'Top job', then your job will become the second in the list and so forth.
  6. Whilst your job remains open and visible on the careers site, it will remain in the top job listings unless your organisation has limited the top jobs list to show X number of the latest top jobs.

TIP:  If the job status becomes not visible (e.g. 'Open, not visible' / 'Closed, not visible' etc.), any top job promotion is automatically removed.

Featured jobs

'Featured Jobs' generally appear with higher prominence on the careers site than the top jobs (above).  Typically featured jobs are displayed with their associated image (from the image tab of the job wizard) and a large snippet of the beginning of the job advertisement text and other key information.

For a job to be promoted as a featured job, it must first be a top job.

You will only be able to promote a job from top job to featured job if you have been granted the 'Can manage publishing' permission.

TIP:  If the job status becomes not visible (e.g. 'Open, not visible' / 'Closed, not visible' etc.), any top job or featured job promotion is automatically removed.
