Overview

This article describes the settings available in the SwitchGear app.  If you have been granted the role of Admin in Talent App Store, you will be able to access these settings:

  1. In SnapHire, click the Apps tab (alternatively this can be accessed via the tenant in www.talentappstore.com).
  2. Under the heading Other , click on SwitchGear app (or if you are accessing via www.talentappstore.com first go to the "My apps" section)
  3. Click Open.

Button settings

When you open the SwitchGear app you are taken directly to the Button settings:

In the the first drop down box you'll need to select an action type, either:

  1. General actions - to work with buttons that show across the careers site (e.g. the Sign Up button that candidates see on the careers site).  The buttons available in this section are described later in this article.
    OR
  2. Job actions - to work with buttons that can show on jobs (e.g. the Apply button candidates see on a job advert).  If you select job actions, then the second drop down box becomes available and you will need to select the SnapHire workflow you wish to work with.  The buttons available in this section are described later in this article.

TIP:  When you open the SwitchGear app you are taken directly to the Button settings, but you can access these settings at any other time from this link on the main SwitchGear page:

Editing settings

After you have selected either General actions of job actions, the applicable buttons will be displayed.

  1. Please note that there are two tabs available - one for external candidates and another for internal candidates.  Remember to check/set buttons for both tabs as required.
  2. To change the settings, click the green EDIT button at the top of the screen.
  3. Once in edit mode:

You can drag and drop buttons as required.  When dragging and dropping buttons:

  • You can move buttons between the Visible and Hidden sections.
  • You can re-order buttons (i.e. drag left and right).  When re-ordering the change will be:
    • General actions:  Site-wide
    • Job actions:  For all jobs in the workflow you are editing.
  • For job actions, when you click on a button an additional "Allow visibility to be edited on a per job level (unless overridden by workflow)" option will appear. This defaults to "Yes".  If set to "No", users (e.g. Recruiters) will not be able to amend for their specific jobs.
  • You'll notice that a "dot" (with exclamation mark) may appear next to some buttons - this indicates a difference exists between this button and the default setting for the SwitchGear app - that is, the visible/hidden setting and for job actions the setting for "Allow visibility to be edited on a per job level (unless overridden by workflow)".

When viewing job actions, the RESTORE DEFAULTS button will also be visible:

  • This button will remove any custom rules which have been set for the general actions, or for this workflow if job actions.  The default SwitchGear settings will be applied (including the default positioning the buttons).
  • If you click on the button, you'll be asked to confirm the restore - if you choose OK the change is made immediately.

  • An example of when you might have the ACCOUNT SnapHire button in the Hidden section of SwitchGear settings is where you are hiding it for internal whose accounts are controlled via SSO (i.e. the button would be visible in the External tab but hidden in the Internal tab).
  • In SwitchGear you will not see any options for the SIGN IN option on the careers site.  This is because it is not a button but a link, and it is always visible and not controlled by SwitchGear.
